A Decent Proposal to A Man

A research from platinum jewellery website www.preciousplatinum.co.uk reveals that although only 3% of women would be prepared to propose to their man under usual circumstances, 39% of women are very likely to take advantage of the ancient leap year tradition which allows them to propose to their partner. The results show that men are happy for the tables to be turned with 55% claiming they like the idea of being proposed to during a leap year. Furthermore, men 25-34 years old are more receptive to the idea than most. 67% of younger men would either consider it or accept at once. Just 6% of men wouldn’t like it as they believe that it’s the man who should propose.

Top tips for your proposal:

· Don't get down on one knee, especially if you're in stilettos. Women rarely look good in this position, this is after all the tradition for men

· Wait till his team wins a big game. The euphoria should carry you both through!

· Hold up a piece of card that says 'Will you marry me?' on it, and ask him to read it out loud. Then say, 'Why, I'd be delighted.'

· A sneaky final tip: In the Middle Ages, when the law was passed, if a woman proposed during a leap year and she was turned down, the man had to give her a kiss and a silk gown. So, perhaps just propose and ask for today’s equivalent - a pair of platinum and diamond earrings…

Why not whisk your man away for a relaxing, romantic break and pop the question then!
